As their botanic name Tigridia (meaning “tiger-like”) suggests, they will bring a rainbow of bright color to your mid-to late summer garden. Tiger Flowers are 3-6 inches wide with three single-color petals radiating alongside smaller patterned petals. The shell or tiger-patterned center contrasts with the simple petals creating a dramatic presence in the flowerbed. The foliage is pleated adding an extra dimension of interest. Hardy in zones 8-10, plant as annuals in cooler areas.
